WE’RE SO SORRY (The True Game. Changer.)

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Discussed: Game. Changers.; Robert Gibbs, The Great Communicator; Dan Humphrey, The Great Complainer; The Unbearable Lightness of Being Nate Archibald; Something To Build On

B&C here. We’d like to apologize from the bottom of our hearts (again) for our lack of posts this week (not to hate on B’s epic Episode Recap), but honestly we have the best excuse.

Firstly this guy (^) got elected president. And the days around this were pretty frantic if you ask us. Between the celebration and the fact that we’ve been tied up in Los Angeles’ Prop 8 protests all week, we’ve had very little time to dedicate to this blog and our fearless and brilliant readership.

Having said that, we have some pretty great intellectual fodder for you all now – a Josh Schwartz & Emmanuel Family-lead coup for the leadership of the free world??? THAT kind of fodder.

We promise to be up again beginning today with back to back posts and enough hilarity and brilliant wit to keep you salivating come Monday night.

You Know You Love Us,
XOXO

Welcome To Advertising – Womanizer Promo

Discussed: The French Burn Out Quick, Forshadowing a Future Blog-Spinoff, Chuck Bass Does Not Treat You Like His Car, We Better See More Of These, Another Song For You (We Just Keep Giving)

So for those of you that watch GG with your eyes glued to the tube, taking in every nook & cranny of even the longest commercial pods, we don’t need to fill you in.

But for those of you that TiVo the show (probably most) and watch at your own convenience, fast-forwarding through the commercials and doing your part to make sure everyone in advertising is out of a job…we need to catch you up.

On Monday night’s episode of Gossip Girl, The CW aired something that the ad/TV community calls a “network promo” (a promotion for the network – am I blowing your mind yet?). This is where the network gives themselves a little bit of airtime to show you a commercial about themselves.

This week The CW aired this week’s IAmChuckBass.com-inspired Chuck Bass Love Fest of a network promo, entitled Womanizer (complimented but what I later found out is some terrible new Britney Spears song), to remind everyone that you can see new episodes of Gossip Girl at 8pm on Mondays (incase they forgot, as they were watching a new episode of Gossip Girl at 8pm on a Monday). Game. Changer. #1 (Nate + Dan)

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Discussed: Harry Nilsson’s “Without You”, This Blog as a Language, It All Started With One of Them Tied Up & Naked, Gossip Girl as Seen in Black & White

C here. I’m writing proudly as I present to you the first entry in our new category “Game. Changer.” Firstly, please note the periods after “game” and “changer”, as it is very important to stress each word as its own sentence, and not throw them around all willy nilly.

So for example, here is the incorrect way to use the term Game Changer:

“Wow, dude, I can’t believe Serena’s little brother came out of the closet, that is a real game changer.”

The correct way:

Game. Changer. Fuck me. Eric’s Gay. There’s a gay person on Gossip Girl. Game Changer…Game. Changer.“*

Good, now that that’s all cleared up, let’s discuss what is arguably the most significant Game. Changer. yet this season (drum roll please): the budding friendship of Dan Humphrey and Nate Archibald (BRING ON THE TRUMPETS!)

If there is one thing we have been waiting for since season one it was for these two to realize that they are the perfect fit for one another. Dan needs help. He’s sort of a pussy and, as Nate said, he has a huge chip on his shoulder (thanks mom/dad), where as Nate is so laid back (see our latest Archibalds Poll). Dan could really learn a lot from him.

And at the same time, Nate can finally take that jump below 14th Street and into the life that he really wants – that of a “normal” person. Gallery openings, Santos’ Party House, a fixed gear bike, public transit, Beatrice – you know, a normal person…like Sarah Palin.
